Subharmonicon sequencer trigger bug?

Hi all! While performing with the Subharmonicon (and M32 + 2 DFAMs) I activate and deactivate SEQ2 for song variations.

I've noticed that sometimes, SEQ2 will NOT advance when SEQ1 loops from step 4 to 1!
After some more testing I've found the following:

My Setup:
Firmware 1.1.1
Rhythm 1 - controls SEQ1.
Rhythm 2 - controls SEQ2.

If I let only SEQ1 run, and I press the reset button, and before SEQ1 reaches its last step I activate SEQ2, then SEQ2 will NOT advance when SEQ1 loops from step 4 to step 1.
It seems that SEQ2 only will advance if SEQ1 has made a FULL cycle.

For me this behaviour is a bit tricky when performing 'live', as I want to fully control when Seq2 will 'kick in', but because of this, sometimes I will get an extra full loop in SEQ1 before SEQ2 starts, and that messes up the timing in my performance.
I would like that SEQ2 ALWAYS will advance when SEQ1 goes from step 4 to step 1, because then I will know exactly when SEQ2 will 'kick in' after pressing the SEQ2 button.

Am I missing something? Is this "by design"? ... or did I find a bug?

Best regards, Andreas

I don't think there's a direct link between SEQ1 and SEQ2. Only indirectly; if you've set up SEQ1 to go 4x faster than SEQ2, you can get SEQ2 to advance every time SEQ1 loops back to step one if you press start after you've reset the SubH sequencer. At least that's how I use it, and indeed, if I stop SEQ2, this can get out of step. Maybe if you clock the SEQ2 from the patch-bay with an external device, you can better time the start-stop.

By the way, I clock my DFAM, SubH, and Volca Bass in parallel from a Volca Mix, splitting the Volca Mix's sync-out in three. So I don't have a serial sync-out to sync-in chain. Not only does this mean that even if one of the synths sequencers is stopped or doesn't clock out (for whatever reason), the other ones continue running in sync, It also means that I can stop all from a single point, reset their sequencers (or in case of DFAM advance to step eight), press run on all synths and then start them all at the same time from the Mix.

Of course, you don't have to have a Volca Mix, but any other single source of sync-out that you can start/stop can work.

For my latest 'music video' I figured it out, how to trigger SEQ2 correctly. I had to time the first activation differently than the second (and following) times.

I found out that after a press of the reset button (before I start the performance), there will always be a FULL SEQ1 loop before SEQ2 will kick in. After SEQ2 has been activated, I can turn it off and on, and it will always advance as SEQ1 loops.

Here's the performance:
https://youtu.be/XjB03C9V3qU?si=La2nbC3jrSp0g_C9

The first activation of SEQ2 is done at 1:01, deactivation at 1:38, and activation again at 2:38, and final deactivation at 3:02.
The first time, I have to activate SEQ2 on "bar 4", to get the timing correct. After that, I can activate on wherever bar, and it will advance as soon as SEQ1 loops.

Good info! And it makes sense; this means that the SEQ2 division 'remembers' how much clock ticks it has already had before advancing to the next step at the very moment one stops SEQ2. And on the first press of SEQ2, up to then that's zero.

Nice video by the way!
