Foogers inside rack drawers?

I'm thinking of putting my foogers inside of a 2 space version of this:

The 2 space one is 3" high internally. Is that high enough?
There are cable passages in the back of the drawer, so I imagine just pulling the drawers out when I want access (always) and tucking them in again, but they get to stay plugged in. That way i don't need to dedicate so many rack spaces to them, but they're still accessible.
They won't be secured, unless I put in fitted foam I guess, but its too heavy already to carry it all around much.
Can I connect all the audio and CV to patch bays? I saw some kind of plug that someone came up with the jumps the tip to the sleeve or whatever.
Am I insane or might this work? Open to opinions and suggestions...
