Subsequent 25 vs. Subsequent 37

Post by amandakelly » Wed Feb 21, 2024 5:01 am

I’ve narrowed it down to these two but I would like to know if I’m sacrificing any major features. The only differences I’ve found seem to be an an octave less on the 25, no LED screen, and less presets and memory. Am I missing anything? If I go with the 25 I can afford to get a poly synth as well (looking at the Korg minilogue xd). This will be my first venture into synth land. I would really appreciate some guidance and insight. Thank you in advance!

There is another thread about this: viewtopic.php?t=35365

They also reference the SoundOnSound Subsequent 25 review: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/mo ... -25?page=2

I have a Sub 37 and I would say having a screen and a 2nd modulator is a big difference. The 2nd modulator allows you to create more dynamic sounds and even allows you to modulate the amount of modulation on the 1st modulator. The mini screen allows you to set all that up without needing a computer. If you have the money, I'd go for the 37. Its a beautiful instrument you'll keep for a lifetime.

The sequencer is another big difference.

All in all, I feel it's better to think about the Subsequent 25 as an augmented Sub Phatty rather than a stripped down Subsequent 37.
