NAMM 2024: Will Moog have any new announcements during the show?

Anyone heard anything?

Only the Bob Moog Foundation has a booth there...

Did not hear anything yet. I would be confident if they had a booth, as they are used to surprise us.

Oh yeah, what a beauty (sigh) - Does anybody know the price for this? If this a 100% reissue with 144 or more analogue VCOs this is a VERY interesting question...

Wow.

That's some serious coin for a serious instrument.

Might have to run down to NAMM to check it out.

Indeed nice, that Korg. But out of (financial) reach for most people. Still hoping for the release of a 3 voice true polyphonic synth from Moog. Basically a Subsequent 25 with some true polyphony. Keyboard not even needed, like the Minitaur. I am sure many producers would love that!

Yeah, I've been looking for coverage of Moog at NAMM since it starts today but I can't find anything. I was assuming they make some sort of show there to signal their new post-InMusic buy-out direction but I guess not...

Some thougths:

Yes, it is a nice synth with a cool technical approach. But is this the best approach for true poliphony? Yes, 144 VCOs are cool, but this costs. You obtain voices which are not phase coupled of course, and a standard organ architecture like the polymoog might suffer from phase coupling, but I don't think that is such an audible problem.
Proposal: It would be easy for Moog to create a full polyphonic architecture with 3 voices based on an organ architecture for much less money: 3 master oscillators followed by frequency dividers followed by phase shifters to avoid phase coupling followed by standard Moog synth stuff, especially the filter. A kind of Polymoog++; Moog fans are happy, sound is great, the instrument is affordable.

Just an idea.

I'm curious about this whole Labyrinth thing. A fully voltage controlled FFB?

I've been pining for that ever since I got a FFB

I didn’t read any Moog news, anyone see anything from them?

What’s “FFB”?

I know it as abbreviation for Fixed Filter Bank. A formant filter. Moog sold two versions of it for their modulars, the 907 and 914. Inductor based. "Voltage Controlled" and "Fixed" are a contradiction though. You would replace the FFB with a set of VCFs in band pass operation mode.

Fluffy Fart Bag. New Moog product, it's a real gas!

Thanks, sorry too lazy to type it out & assumed it was common shortform.

Although a fixed filter bank is variable: you just need to manually turn the knobs. Which is all fine & good, if you're an octopus!

CV is the ideal way though

I got one - it didn't make any sound but put out an awful stench - didn't realize I got the "silent but deadly" version
