Hey guys, I know there is already a thread on favorite patch configs but I'd like to see your favorite knob levels as well.


I'm curious if anyone hear gets a sharp/bright/biting phaser sound with their 103. If I bring too much LFO in, it sweeps thru some very very bassy sounds and chords become indescernible because they are lost in the mud. The best way I've found to alleviate this is to:

Have amount around 1 or 2, put the sweep at 0,2,or 6 for a bright sound, turn the resonance down and crank the highs on my guitar.

If you have any other suggestions for a real sharp and crisp phase sound please let me know.

Maybe try a graphic EQ before the 103 to eliminate the bass frequencies before they reach the phaser. Or place it after the 103, to cut the mud.

the moog phasor can certinaly do brighter textures but I think it's real strong point is that it's so bassy and warm. I tend to try and exploit what the pedal is good at rather than make it do something it wasn't intended to do (although somtimes that can yield very interesting results). Same with the A/DA flanger...that thing is mad muddy/bassy but if you utilize those textures then you won't be pulling out your hair trying to figure out why it wont to what you want it to. My ultimate suggestion for a really bright cutting phase tone is to look elsewhere than the moog 103 cause it really doesn't do that sound so well. Maybe try a phase 90 or something....

hmm right now i have the LFO amount at about 2 on LO, the rate about halfway, the resonance about half way and the sweep on 6. i get a pretty bright wooshing.

i guess i just dont know how to utilize the bassier tones...to me it sounds like im doing something wrong because it really muddies the tone especially if you hit a full chord.


As far as the lowpass filter, i notice that eveyrone seems to crank the mix and envelope to 10, this gives it the most funky envelope filter kind of sound, but this isnt what the pedal was intened to do either...
