Do you think it would warm up the tones from VST-synths and make them sound better by sending them through the Moog Voyager EXT AUDIO IN and massage the sounds through the Moog filter etc?
Anybody tried this?
See for example some new hardware synths on the market that are hybrids with digital sound generation running through analog filters, like Third Wave from Groove Synthesis or the upcoming Udo Supergemini. Do you think one could get something like this by sending digital VST-synthesizers through the Minimoog filter?

This would work, but only for monophonic played (= one note at a time) VST instruments.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

You can get some nice sounds putting chords through it. Sometimes paraphony can sound great. It's also pretty easy to multitrack one note at a time to build chords.
It's worth spending half an hour trying things out.

Yep, seconding that: I often use my Little Phatty to MIDI-control a basic polyphonic synth whose audio out goes into the LP's audio input: paraphony sounds kind of special and the Moog filter definitely has something.Acid Mitch wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 1:08 pmYou can get some nice sounds putting chords through it. But I think Till mean the Moog filter could replace the VST filter just as in a VST voice only for monophonic parts.

I think running Aparillo thru the external audio in thru the filter would be interesting. Aparillo is a really cool sounding
App as is Factory, both are Sugarbyte apps. . Also Animoog Z would probably be pretty interesting as well.

Yes, it is possible to warm up the tones from VST-synths and make them sound better by sending them through the Moog Voyager EXT AUDIO IN and massaging the sounds through the Moog filter. In fact, this is a common practice among producers and engineers. The Moog filter is a classic analog filter that is known for its warm and rich sound. By sending VST-synths through the Moog filter, you can add these qualities to your digital sounds.
The Third Wave from Groove Synthesis and the Udo Supergemini are examples of new hardware synths that are hybrids with digital sound generation running through analog filters. These synths are designed to take advantage of the best of both worlds by combining the flexibility of digital synthesis with the warm and rich sound of analog filters.
If you are interested in trying this technique, here are a few tips:
Use a high-quality audio cable to connect the output of your audio interface to the EXT AUDIO IN of the Moog Voyager.
Experiment with different filter settings to find the sound you like.
Be careful not to overdo it, as too much filtering can make your sound muddy.
With a little experimentation, you can find that sending your VST-synths through the Moog filter is a great way to add warmth and richness to your sounds.
