Matriarch patch not matching what I saw in video.

The patch above I've been trying to replicate (@6:02). I have all the knobs, switches, buttons, and patch points exactly the same; even the sequence and tempo the same; but on mine it sounds really out of tune at points and not as echo-y as the video. Is there some global setting that would cause this much of a difference?
Also, how is his sequence playing even though the HOLD button is off?

If it doesn't sound as echo-y as in the video, that's probably due to an echo, delay or reverb effect that's not mentioned. Happens a lot in videos showcasing a synth or a patch.
As with any analog synth, there is some variation in the components. That causes identical dial settings on two synths not giving exactly the same sound. You may want to slightly tweak the settings to get your VCOs to be in tune. It also helps to allow the synth to warm up a bit first, because that also will affect tuning.

I'm guessing that the VCA is set to drone? I don't see any other way for something to be playing.

He says this is only the Matriarch. No added effects.

I tried using drone but it doesn't keep the sequence running. Weird. I'll just use Hold since I dont think it would effect anything too differently.
I actually found that the patch in the video is in a patchbook he shared. Here's the patch. When I dial it in exactly it sounds so so off. Of course I'm messing with the attenuator knob and delay time knob and spacing, but still having trouble finding a spot where the Time In CV modulation sounds musical throughout. Maybe try this patch yourself to see if it's close for you.

My Matriarch is patched up for recording right now but I'll try this when I'm done with this song if noone else can. (might be a few days) I've been meaning to work through that patchbook anyway.

I was feeling bad I hadn't gotten to this - mine's still patched.

It's weird how small variations can mess things up. As for the sequence playing without the HOLD button, maybe there's some trick or hidden feature we're missing.

There is, you turn off Sequence Keyboard Control in the global settings.

I think dangerous nailed it. Thanks - this was confusing me too.
