Clicking Noise with the cp251?

I just got a cp-251 to use with my moog phaser and I notice that I get clicking sound when using the sample&hold or lfo out into the sweep control of the pedal. Is this just something I have to deal with or is it a messed up unit? Also should three of the four way mixer knobs affect the first input?

Do you get a clicking when you're using the triangle lfo and the second s&h output? If it's just with the s&h output 1 and the square lfo, then it's normal. Send the signal through the lag processor and then adjust both the rise and fall until the clicking is gone. The jumps in the cv signal cause the clicking (in my understanding...)

If you're having problems with the smoother cv signals then you might have an equipment problem.

Side note: you can use the clicking ias a musical tool. Turn the resonance on your 103 all the way up (and use the offset of the mixer to boost the resonance more), then feed the square wave from the 251 through your phaser. The resonance will add some more "musical" quality to the clicks.

Not sure what exactly what you're saying about the mixer issue. But if it's what I think you mean then yes they should. The first knob controls the amount of the first input, the output controls the overall output of the entire mix, and the offset is a dc signal that either adds or subtracts voltage from the overall mix. With just one input all three knobs would have an effect on the output of the mixer.

Instantaneous (or near instantaneous actually) changes in voltage levels such as those seen in square or S&H waves will produce high frequency "clicks" when controlling something such as filter frequencies. As asd said, putting them through the lag processor will take care of this.

Thanks. I got around the clicking sound its only the square wave. I read the manual wrong for the mixer I thought that there were two controls each for inputs one and two. I didnt realize that the two bottom controls affect the whole mixer section. I used to use a boss phaser with the step function and now I can get that sound again but it sounds sooo much better.
