Using the sequencer to control the opening/closing of the filters

A quick question about the Moog One, as I'm getting closer to a purchase of the 8-Voice version, and pardon me if I might be using the wrong terminology, but here goes:
Is it possible to use the sequencer to control the filter to achieve the sort of effect in the beginning of this song: https://youtu.be/_nMx1hhehmI
In other words, I'd like to create a rhythmic pattern where the sound comes through only on specific hits and the lowpass filter opening up on certain hits more than other? Or would I rather use the vocoder of the Moog One to create this effect by feeding a rhythmic pattern (for instance a floor tom, as on this track) to the synth and playing the chords?
I also love the other filtered sounds of this track, for instance the electric guitar melody at 1:33 - I take for granted that I will be able to create this sort of S&H-effects with the One?
