OK...had a look at the LP on my lunchbreak. Just beautiful! The silver finished areas are nicer than in the photos. I can hardly wait!

Carbon,
I thought you were going to wait for the "performer" editions in order for the early production bugs to get worked out? What changed your mind? The Phatty is great obviously (even though mine had a boot up bug, which is now fixed--should get mine back on Wednesday!)--just curious.

I was calling a store to order some software and they said: "You still want a Little Phatty? We have one left in stock...we can ship it today...". I scraped my jaw off the floor and said "Ummm, yeah. OK."

The bottom line for me is I tend to be more productive with just a handfull of synths. Also, having less clutter in the studio helps a lot.
I think softsynths are finally coming into their own! Some of the ones I'm working with now are nothing short of breathtaking in their flexibility of timbre and programming possibilities!
They also take up less room
Its not like I've gotten rid of all my hardware synths...I've even just added one as this thread attests!

Now you'll just have virtual clutter.
Reaktor can do some amazing things, but it has a steep learning curve if you want to make your own synths, etc. I'll stick with knobs, though thank you... there is no sex appeal in software.

I think there's room for both hard and soft synths. There's no way I'd ever get rid of my LP or PEK but I'm really loving Reaktor and Absynth. For that matter, my Waldorf Q rack and MicrowaveXT (which is my favorite synth) are mostly "soft"
I've been playing the LP all night and already have about ten of my own patches programmed. Maybe its just nostalgia for that "Moog" sound (my first synth was a Rogue) but I'm
totally in love with it!!!

Its not that I particularly disliked anything about the Voyager, its just that it was quite a bit
more than a Performance Monosynth and quite a bit
less than a full Modular Synth.
I already have an excellent Modular Synth in my Serge, what I wanted was a fast-programming, Moog-sounding Performance Monosynth.
The Phatty was just a better fit for me
Its great.
