Sirin panel machine threading

I recently purchased a Moog Sirin from Guitar Center and wanted to add on the wood panels I purchased from Sweetwater which Moog sells separately. However after struggling to unscrew the left side by hand I noticed some of the holes were offset and that the screws had be installed at odd angles. When trying the thread the new screws for the wood panels they wouldn't catch without being at an angle. Now I am trying to re-install the original screws, one goes in just fine, the second a little harder, and the other three I can't screw in by hand without taking the risk of stripping them. Any recommendations? It looks like a manufacturing defect I wish I would of noticed before trying to remove the screws. I have reached out to Moog about it waiting to hear back

Hi,
Had the same experience with my Sirin when installing the wood panels.
Couldn’t go backwards because one hole was stripped when trying to screw in.
Didn’t want to revert to the original, so I just used a larger screw for that problem.

When I first got my Sirin I noticed that some of the screws were indeed not flush with the casing. I took it as just been an artifact of being hand made. hmm...

maybe try a wood screw instead?

I have an old Hughes & Kettner stompbox, and they used little woodscrews to hold the chassis together. works great

Hi yes I tried but they were actually much larger than the machine threaded screw and wouldn’t go in straight due to the panel offset. Moog had me ship them the unit to be installed.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the helpful info! I reached out to Moog support and they offered to do the install since it was still under warranty, so I decided to go that route instead of potentially making the problem worse. Their customer support was great all I had to do was pay for shipping to them and within two weeks I had it back the wood panels look awesome :D
