has anyone refinished the wood ends on their foogers? I have some that are beat up & could use it
also any info on the lacquer Moog/Big Briar used on them?

refinish wood ends?
Re: refinish wood ends?
allright after not getting any results searching "refinish" or "lacquer" in subject titles, I used "wood" and got a bunch of hits
here are the best results I got:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21466&hilit=wood
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3491&hilit=wood
and then found a reference to "foogerwood" in one of those:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7862&hilit=foogerwood
in summary:
1. Tung Oil
2. Gunstock by Minwax
seem to be the most popular options

I used Red Oak (the links above mention Moog most likely used Ash from Tennessee for the Moogerfoogers) and stained with “Gunstock” stain by Minwax. I’m certain I coated on polyurethane or lacquer afterwards, but I don’t remember the model or brand …just something ultra clear and with minimal color. Here’s how the SK-1 came out:
