since I have been using my minitaur, I find my desktop monitors aren't giving me a decent idea of how it really sounds
when I play the mix through a stereo setup, the bass is way too hot.
using a set of Fostex PMO .4's. here is an info link

haha, just read this in the review:
"Shouldn't be trusted for monitoring super-low bass frequencies. Prominence around the 'vocal sweet spot'. "
they have worked well for me with other less bass heavy stuff though
ps yes....I do need to do some reading on room treatment
thx!!

Re: mixing with a minitaur.....monitor/sub advice?
I use 3 sets of speakers to check mixes. Event 20/20p (8" woofer) Old Alesis Monitor One's (6" woofer) and a pair of smaller multimedia speakers by Philips. Sometimes you have to roll off some bass with a low shelf at around 60hz and boost higher up somewhere around 160-500hz. Depends on the Kick and what it is doing. Sometimes you have to duck, (side chain the bass) using the kick signal. Every song and every mix is different. Good luck.
