Just today I bought a used Voyager (Electric Blue). My first analog synth...had to have one after I played a buddies!

Anyhow, I'm a bit distraught. Hopefully I'm doing something wrong, but there is some strange 'noise' which kinda sounds like distortion and oscillation if I were to describe it. I'm hoping I'm just completely stupid and overlooking something as it doesn't seem normal. I don't recall my friends Voyager sounding this way. The sound is there whether or not I've got the OSC level and Master high or low.

I've uploaded an mp3 for you to hear as well as a jpeg from the editor librarian for the patch I used to make the mp3. I just initialized the patch via the panel edit, but just in case the jpeg is attached.

If the behavior is not normal, please let me know if you think it is fixable. I'm worried I got stiffed, but if it is fixable I'll prob hold onto it since it was a good deal and see if I can get some cash back from the guy who sold it to me.

I know it's a freak-out when you get something new and you think there might be something wrong, esp something this expensive. THe trick to try not to get too emotional about it, i know it's hard...

Anyway, i listened to your file, "crackling," seems fine to me. I hear some slight buzziness in the tippy top note, but you might just need to turn down your resonance or cutoff.

I recommend really reading that manual well, and experimenting, cause it might just be a setting that needs to be changed. Trial and error, that's my best advice. It could also be the speakers, amp or headphones you're listening with.

If you have a better example of the noise, re-post it. But i don't hear much with this one, seems fine. Good luck!

Thing is, there was no resonance on that patch. That was the initialized patch setting with everything set neutral, except the cutoff halfway down. The thing that disturbed me was that on all the patches as soon as I bring the cutoff halfway down I get that sound. Almost like an old record/vinyl effect, which I guess is a kinda 'character', but at the same time it doesn't seem right. I'd like to be able to get a clean sweep in there that doesn't have that crackling sound. It almost sounds like an lfo in some weird way, sometimes a fast frequency noise...some times slow, although lfo is certianly set to 'off'.

I've been reading the manual all day, but no explanation really for this. Def no prob with the monitors and tried many different cables.

1st Example = All Osc's OFF, but fiddling with KB Cont Amount and holding a key down the noise really stands out.

BTW, is the warranty transferable if it is still less than a year old should this turn out to in fact be a defect?

BTW, I'm not complaining...cause it does sound incredible apart from that little bit. Running it through my Drawmer 1969 ME Tube DI is screamin!

Sounds like a mosquito is trapped inside your Voyager. I think it needs some servicing.

ha, you're right. does sound like a mosquito! that'll be one for the sound effects library then....


i'm gonna contact moog then and see what they think on monday. luckily the guy who sold it to me is being communicative.
