Phatty to Phatty patch transfer

Post by stiiiiiiive » Tue Jun 13, 2017 6:16 am

Hey all.

I wondered whether it was possible to send presets sysex files from a LP to another one without the use of any computed.
Not sure if a USB cable type BB does exist and/or if the LP/Slim allows that. An alternative could be to use a USB->DIN adapter.

Any experience? Any testers?
Thanks in advance :)

Is page 42 of the manual helpful?

Thanks LedBetter :) Receiving or sending SysEx files is indeed simple. What I'm not sure about is how to set it up without any computer: as said before, it seems a USB type BB cable is needed, or a somewhat autonomous USB-DIN converter. Not sure the first one is very common though...
I just wanted to gather some experience...

Sorry about 1-not having consulted the manual and 2-answering before my morning coffee.

Indeed, the SEND CURRENT PRESET option description p.42 is as follows:

This option allows you to send the current preset (system exclusive
data format) for archiving a preset in the SP’s memory. This requires
another SP, Little Phatty, or computer with a MIDI interface and a program
that can accept a SysEx dump.
You must enable the device that
is to receive the SysEx data. Once the remote device is enabled, press
ENTER to start the data transfer.

Moreover, I don’t know why I got stuck on the USB cable issue when a simple DIN MIDI cable would do the job…

I’ll try that and report as soon as my Slim arrives :)

I do it all the time from my LP across 3 Slims and works perfectly via Midi. Have fun!!
