Voyager > Logic > Voyager routing?!?

Hello again,

I want to use a Voyager as my main midi keyboard interface with Logic [running on an Intel iMac]. That is, use the Moog's keyboard and touchpad and knobs to send midi info TO Logic, thus controlling the soft synths in Logic. I also want to be able to send midi info FROM Logic to the Voyager. Can someone point me to a link that explains how to do this without creating midi feedback loops?

Thanks!

You first need to create a new multi instrument within the enviroment of logic for the voyager. Create a new layer and then create a new multi instrument on this layer. Assign the Multi instrument to the same midi port the voyager is on. Make sure the midi channel on the multi instrument and the voyager are the same. This will allow you to record midi messages from the voyager to logic and playback once recorded back to the voyager.

In regards to controlling VI's from the voyager this will require that you match up the voyagers parameter numbers (in the voyager manual) to the corresponding parameter numbers that the VI will use. This could be very fiddley. If I were you I would use a sperate controller keyboard that is compatable with all of logics VI's. By the way to controll the VI from the voyager you will need to make sure you select the VI's track in the arrange page and make sure it is on the same receive channel that the voyager is sending on.

Hope this helps.

This is absolutely correct, except that you do not use a Multi-Instrument, as the Voyager is not multi-timbral. Use a Standard Instrument object.
