Hi aldred,
Quite often you'll find that there's some way to do something on a Sub 37.
Traditionally, having Velocity modulate Filter
EG AMT is the most "musical" way of doing it. Why? Because, if you're using a Filter EG to create a dynamic timbre that goes from a desired brightness down to either silence or a specific darkness, you usually don't want the endpoint (FILTER EG
SUSTAIN Level) to change based on Velocity. Typically, you only want the earlier parts of the sound to get brighter as the Velocity increases... and then, eventually end up at the same desired darkness regardless of the Velocity.
Multiplying
VEL AMT x
EG AMT is a great way to achieve this when the
SUSTAIN knob is at, or close to, zero. Why? Because any Velocity multiplied by zero is still zero, so, no change.
But... that's not what you want. So...
Set
MOD 1 or
MOD 2's
MOD SOURCE knob to
PGM. Press the
CONTROLLER button to highlight it and use the
Up/
Dwn arrows to get to the
MOD 1 EDIT (or
MOD 2 EDIT) line. Press
CURSOR.
You're now in the
MOD BUS (
1 or
2)
EDITOR.
USE the
Up/
Dwn arrows to get to
PGM SOURCE and scroll to
VELOCITY. (It's the 2nd-to-last of a long list of choices.)
Now, the
FILTER AMT knob in
MOD (
1 or
2) will allow
VELOCITY to increase or decrease (CW or CCW) the Filter Cutoff, independent of the
FILTER EG/
FILTER EG AMT/
VEL AMT settings.
