Can incorrectly using CV cause damage?

I've been using a VX-352, a Slim Phatty with CV outputs to control my Voyager RME. New to control voltage and not knowing how everything should be connected, do I run the risk of permanently damaging the Voyager if I connect something wrong or turn up an attenuator too far?

Not combining CV's in mults is probably the single-biggest no-no. Use the mixer on a CP-251 or similar device for that function.

Mults aren't mixers. 1 input, multiple outputs. If you need to mix two inputs, use a mixer.
