Taurus 3 volume setting

With the volume wheel at the minimum setting, the synth still puts out a non-negligible signal. It's only with the expression pedal connected to the volume that I can fully attenuate it. What gives?

The wheel isn't a volume attenuator, it puts out a CV for the VCA. VCAs don't turn off completely, so that's what you're hearing.
Many synthesizers do that.
