Voyager XL + Microbrute CV Questions

Hey Guys,
CV is still a fairly new exercise to me. My only experience so far has been my foogers and xl together - which are, obviously, all compatible out of the box.
I wanted to dive a little deeper into CV and add some new sound options to play with my XL and Foogers - so, I scored a Microbrute as a little brother. Right now, I have the Microbrute running through the MF-102 and MF-105m (stereo) and then CV'd out from the Microbrute's Gate Out to the Tap/Step input on the Murf. When I set up a sequence, I've got it stepping the MURF and it's ... delicious! I can post sounds if you like. Since the MURF goes back to mono when disengaged, I just turn down the MIX instead of de-activating the effect and keep the colored signal in stereo. The Ring Modulator before the Murf adds some awesome tones (also keeps the filters resonating on the murf) and grit (overdrive). Anyhow, it's a great combination!
Here's where I'm hitting a wall:
I'm able to send modulation CVs to the Microbrute from the XL after hitting the attenuator first and I've been experimenting with sending complex LFOs via the mixer/attenuators. My only issue right now, is that I can't seem to get the Microbrute to send any CV signals that make any changes to the XL (particularly pitch/gate that would follow the sequences I'm setting up) - nor have I been able to send pitch/gate signals that will actually 'track' to the Microbrute. I can trigger a note, but it stay the same note up and down the keyboard.
Anyhow, if anyone has any good tips/advice or wanna drop some school on me, I'm an eager recipient!
