String issues...

Hi, all...
Just found out the hard way that Dean Markley Blue Steels will NOT work on the Moog guitar. After changing over to them, I discovered massive piles of noise under my signal in articulated and mute modes. Not full power, though. Just talked to Jim at Moog (who's doing some other work on the instrument for me), and found the strings to be causing the issue.
Just wanted to warn people away from Blue Steels, or any other strings that don't have some sort of fabric/threaded extra windings above the ball end. Jim says that, without that, the electronics cannot function properly. He also says that there won't be any issues with still getting the Moog strings with the guitars being discontinued.
If anyone knows of working alternatives for strings (that don't require shrinkwrap or extra prep work to use!), please lemme know!
Jeff
