got a offer to buy a micro for $357. Everything works fine except its missing the ribbon slider and would most likely need a service. i know this will need some TLC so i will be taking this to a service shop. Its a good price, i do realize its missing the slider.

This will be my first moog. should i jump on it?.

Micromoog is a very good starter synth.

The Micromoog has analog variable waveshape. This variable waveshape is modulatable. That is AMAZING for 1975.
In addition to being able to have variable waveshape, and modulatable waveshape, it also allows for the oscillator to modulate the filter... which is NECESSARY for the Moog Sound.
The filter is overdriven, and so are the oscillators. These things are fundamental in attaining a saturated Moog sound.
The Micromoog has the ability to modulate an incredible range of frequency.
Pitch Ribbon.
Mixing a saw and a square is NOT the same thing as having variable waveshape. The Micromoog, while incapable of detuning, certainly CAN create a greater variability of waveshape than the other "discount" Moogs.

Buy the damned thing.

I agree, buy it.

BTW Marc, the OP mentionned that the ribbon controller is missing on the Micromoog he wants to buy...
But still a reasonnable price, if it's the only thing missing, and everything else is working.
