Hi guys,
I just got my very own voyager rackmount secondhand but it came without a power lead; I have various kettle leads lying around with various amp fuses in them; my electrician friend tells me it makes a difference so does anyone know what correct amp fuse I should use? I'm uk based. thanks!

Any IEC standard power cord will do. All Voyagers are equipped with universal switching type PSU that accepts 100-240 VAC @ 50-60 Hz, with internal fuse protection.

This is what you need for UK:

Here in the UK those leads have a fuse in the 3 pin wall plug. Its this fuse that needs to be correct.
You need to know what ampage the synth draws at 230V and rate the fuse accordingly. The difference your friend was talking about is from a safety perspective. Better to blow a fuse in the plug rather than in the synth.

Isn't it rather 240 Volts in UK ?

A regular Moog Voyager is rated at 40 Watts maximum of power consumption.
And with a little calculation, we arrive at 0.167 Amps @240 Volts for 40 Watts of power. (I=P/E)

So, a 1/6 Amp (0.166 A) fuse, or greater, should do fine.

Here in America, we don't have fuses embedded in such power cords, but rather rely on brakers/fuses in wall electrical distribution panels for a given group of electrical outlets, and the fuses in the internal PSU.

. In a way you are correct that 240v is uk standard but it is more like 230. Or in my house it is reading 231v. At that voltage a low amp fuse is fine. Max 3 amp (red fuse).

It is 240v in the UK. They never changed it. To come in line with Europe, everyone including the rest of Europe said they would go to 230v. They are allowed a 10% variance and that allowed everyone to stay at the voltage they were already at.
Had to get my electricity supplier to turn down the sub station as I was regularly getting 250v-254v at my house. The spikes were even higher. After many complaints, they fitted a voltage logger, agreed there was a problem and changed to a different tap at the transformer in the substation.
I now have a fairly steady 240v as indicated by a couple of Furman's in my studio.
