I am wondering if I can trigger the gate with external audio.. any trick ?

Although you didn't say which gate you were referring to (the Voyager has two gate inputs), Gates will trigger when you apply a +5V signal. The ENV Gate can also be triggered by plugging in a footswitch - a nice extra performance feature. (TIP - if you have the type of footswitch that switches polarity, you have the choice to trigger the Gate when the footswitch is depressed or not depressed - try it!).

Don't expect the same thing on the S&H Gate though, as is only responds to a +5V input, and not a footswitch.
