Hi all. All of a sudden, I am unable to disengage the LFO on my Voyager.
I have done the following:
- disconnected all cables (including power)
- only have power cable & headphone plugged in
- turn on Voyager
- initial parameters

When Voyager was working fine, I would hear what I'd expect to hear. A straight oscillator. Now, I hear the LFO engaged and acting on the oscillator. I am able to control some aspects of the LFO, but I can't turn it off. I can change the rate, source, & destination. I cannot change the amount, by either the amount knob or the modulation wheel.

I have also tried changing presets, and I have searched for all seemingly applicable Master & Edit menu parameters. To many of these I've turned them off & on again. I saw a few parameters related to Mod Wheel source & destination, but that didn't seem to apply.

Here's what happened prior to the issue developing. I connected the midi out of the Voyager into the midi in of a Korg Microsampler. I connected a mono audio out the Microsampler into the external audio in of the Voyager. Prior to this microsampler setup, I had a a TRS cable leaving the mixer/oscillator out of the Voyager and the Tip/Ring entering a moogerfooger 104M delay.

I wonder if either of one of these 2 set-ups involving either the Microsampler or the MF 104M delay somehow set off a seemingly permanently engaged LFO. Besides initial parameters command, is there a deeper level "system reset" of the voyager?

Does anybody have an idea about this?

Hey all. Problem solved. Andy Hughes @ Moog solved it immediately. My experience with Moog Customer Service has been absolutely stellar.

The symptom I experienced was an always-engaged LFO, even when the mod wheel and mod 1 amount knob were at their 0 setting. Andy explained that this was due to the loss of control of the mod buss & pedal buss. He says this issue was addressed in a recent techinical support email bulletin and if you have a similar issue, you can email him at andyhughes@moogmusic.com. In confirming the diagnosis, Andy had me switch the mod wheel source to On/Mod. Functionally, I believe this disengages the LFO as the source for the mod wheel, and looks to a source on the corresponding jack. (CV/expression pedal is a common usage in this mode.) A side benefit to me is that I can use my Voyager, without the mod wheel control of the LFO, until I get around to opening it up. This is significant in that it means the Voyager is not rendered musically useless by this issue. By the way, I only have to send the lightweight circuit board. And Moog has agreed to cover my needed repair under warranty.

My issue was unrelated to those two first time set-ups I did prior to first observing the mod buss/pedal buss issue. I noticed a thread here from around 2011-2012 describing my exact issue. I submitted this post on a Sunday, and called Moog first-thing Monday morning. My initial post appeared afterwards & so I couldn't delete it.

This issue has just happened to me

I've had nothing but trouble with this bloody synth, the whole analog board was replaced a couple of years ago after a string of issues/failed repairs. Yes I know about the support bulletin, yes Moog customer service is excellent...but the pain of getting the synth serviced every couple of years leaves a bad taste. Oh and my MF 101 broke as well, that wasn't cheap to fix. It's a definite love/hate relationship...currently in hate mode.

I empathize. At least, with this particular issue, one can keep using the Voyager, without the LFO, and fix it once you're ready.

Thanks man. Moog have advised that the next repair should solve all my problems, fingers crossed there's no more issues for me.

Currently back to 'like' mode, I'm sure once I get a fully working synth back it'll be 'love' mode once again.
