Grey colored MiniMoog?!?!

I have owned a used minimoog for about 7 years and have always wondered why on earth it is completely grey in color. No wood grain trim -- just a very nice enameled or powder coated grey paint job on the wood. I have always assumed that someone painstakingly took the trouble to paint it (grey was so cool in the '80s *gasp*) in a prettty professional manner. I have wondered if Moog Music ever produced Grey Moogs? Does anyone know if the ultra-rare Grey Moog could be original from the factory?
Since I have just purchased a new Voyager, I am considering selling the old Grey Moog (she aint what she used to be). Any ideas on how this color mod would affect the selling price? Is Ebay the best place to do it?
thanks and happy moogering...

I've watched some years ago on TV a pretty famous guy on a show with a mini that was detachable and the keybed hanging around his neck (Liberation-like). I'm knowing this version, but his was white painted. I don't know his name any more, but as I remember he played for a while with SUPERTRAMP and is still going with ???? But maybe I'm wrong.....

There were a few artists that had painted their Minimoogs.
Might have been Gary Wright (the Dream Weaver) with the white chopped Mini?
Played with Spooky Tooth before going solo.

Seen in a CK add with either a flipped/inverted photo, or a special left handed Mini.
Eddie Jobson also painted his setup black when touring with UK. Had a black Hammond, Minimoog, and even painted the wood sides on his CS-80. Not to mention an added buss bar to his Hammond to play the Minimoog and organ from the top manual.
Guess it was a 70's thing?

Yeah ! That's the guy I've meant, Gary Wright, and I saw him on a show with Spooky Tooth then. I was so enthusiastic about their song "Waiting For The Wind" that I immediately have pickt up that song into our repertoir. That's one of the most songs I like to sing so much.
I am remembering now they had two "chopped" (

) white ones and they looked awful. Not my taste...............

The factory sometimes did special things, but I've never heard of a grey one. The case of a Minimoog is easily built from scratch, really, although it is about as easy to paint up an original too. I have seen a few all black ones, even had one. And a three white ones for Beach Boys and Captain (Darryl Dragon) and a clear one for Billy Preston. It's a great keyboard for modification!

I've seen also a balck-one on a photo inside the cover of the LP "Worlds Apart" (???) from SAGA. D had been placed upon a Poly and it seemed to look like black painted, but don't know if they had done this by their own like some others had done at that time, most probably because of the not so beautiful later used brown stain.
