Voyager/VX-351/Micromoog, Minimoog Connection

Greetings!

I'm seeking advice on possible connections involving the VX-351, a Micromoog, Voyager and a Minimoog.

I was able to somewhat control the oscillator of the Micromoog via the keyboard output on the 351 but am not sure as to how I can control the contour/envelope using the same approach.

Thanks in advance!

Micromoog has an S-trig input on the back; this is the 2nd half of what is required to play a note (the first being the pitch CV which it sounds like you are already doing (from VX-351 to Micromoog).

The trouble is that the Voyager and all modern synths use something called a V-Trig which is a voltage based trigger or gate; a V-trig is detected by the controlled synth by watching for a rising voltage. An S-trig (which is what the Micro and Minimoog have) is switched to ground, like a 'doorbell'. S-trig uses that funky cinch jones plug/jack that you see on the back of vintage Moog gear.

You can find V-trig to S-trig cables out there but I'm not sure I can tell you where to buy one. Never much messed with that but others may be able to. It is a fairly simple cable, meaning that it does not require an external wiring; the transistor which I've seen referenced is embedded in the jack.

But if you can work this out, you will be able to play you Voyager keyboard and the Micro will play notes according to the contour generator on the Micro panel.

There is probably a way to run Voyager envelopes into the Micro's filter in conjunction with the gate but I'm not familiar enough with the various switches and functions on the micro panel.
