Can Osc 2 be droned like Osc 3?

Is there a way to disconnect keyboard control from OSC2 to drone it like OSC3?

Sorry, NIck, it can't be done. Osc1 & 2 are hardwired internally to the keyboard CV and, unlike Osc3, cannot be disconnected from that source.
But your question makes me curious as to why you'd want to do that.

Hey,
Thanks Greg, I had a cool patch on arturia mini v that I was trying to copy and got stuck on this..it's sort of a droning bagpipe sound.
If I turn osc2 off it gets me part the way there.

Just a guess, but it would have allowed a power 5th drone that could be jammed over with OSC1.

Could the same (or very similar) function be created using a Freq Box's oscillator?

Hey Greg, Thanks. I was trying to replicate a patch of a moog vst I have, which allows osc2 and osc3 to drone while the osc1 is connected to the keyboard which produced a really cool droning bagpipe sound.

Yes your right, OSC2 is set to 0 and OSC3 is set to 7 semitones.

Do you have an external cv keyboard or midi to cv converter?

Drone osc 1&2. Control osc 3 with pitch cv into the mod2. Patch to osc 3 with a mod bus. You'll just need another cv source for the osc 3 pitch. A little workaround, but more flexible. I verified that this works on my xl. I ran the cv through am attenuator to scale the voltage appropriately.

Nick - Check out my Voyager tip on creating drones here:

EDIT: For drones using the 'Out Of The Box' technique, run OSC3 through a pitch shifter set to a fourth or fifth, and set to a 50/50 balance. Or, if the pitch shifter offers separate outputs you could apply separate effects to each output and then pan hard left/hard right for a primo stereo effect.
