Hi,
Any way to have the benefits of the Theremini on the Etherwave plus? Animoog or a hardware option?
Or, can you use the Theremini Advanced Software Editor?
Also, what's the best way to connect an Etherwave plus to an iPad?
Thanks!

you could use a audio to midi converter like the one from sonuus, i2m, very small, fast and allows continous pitch and volume control.

Like d'ni said, the Sonuus MIDI Converters are a pretty reasonable solution. The G2M Guitar to MIDI convertor can be had for only $79. (I don't believe that the i2M can be directly connected to an iOS device; there would need to be a computer in between.)d'ni wrote:you could use a audio to midi converter like the one from sonuus, i2m, very small, fast and allows continous pitch and volume control.
Here's an example of the Moog Etherwave controlling a Roland synth via the G2M:

(Theremin example starts at 3:33.)
To get the 5-pin DIN MIDI jack connected to your iOS device, you'd need an iOS-compatible MIDI->USB interface and the appropriate Apple Camera Connection Kit (30-pin or Lightning) if required.
Or, if your iOS device is 30-pin, you could use a dedicated MIDI -> iOS interface like:

If your iOS device uses Lighting, you could use a dedicated MIDI -> iOS interface like:

And finally, like d'ni mentioned, if you wanted to go through your computer, you could use the Sonuus i2M musicport, which is like the G2M but connects and powers via USB:

As for using the Theremini Editor software on an Etherwave or Etherwave Plus, there's just no way. They're entirely different beasts and besides, neither the Etherwave or Etherwave Plus have MIDI or USB.

thanks for the added infos & links.
just forgot: the ipad has enough power for the i2m. ipad- dock?
anyhow, to get a theremini like feeling for pitch quantization and latency, with or without changing the tone, one could also use the theremin audio , fed through a ios audiointerface like a iRig (or a dock)and into the iPad to apps like autotune-ios (by antares, good one) or some voice synth app. and if you output the ipad audio through a bluetooth speaker... even more delay on the cheap. LoL.

Even if an iPad did have enough juice to run an i2M, I think you need to run the included Mac/PC software to be able use it. If that's the case, you couldn't use an i2M with an iPad even if it does have enough power.d'ni wrote:the ipad has enough power for the i2m. ipad- dock?

demon-dan, i2m to camerakit to ipad and your input instrument, mostly any, plays animoog! how cool is this? in the app setup, choose i2m musicport for midi input. that's it. incredible times.
i have to commit a correction by the way on saying continous pitch control. it's midi and therefore a bit stepped. so almost continous pitch and volume control would fit better. sorry for that.

It's extremely cool. Excellent find, d'ni!!d'ni wrote:i2m to Camera Connection Kit to iPad and your input instrument, mostly any, plays Animoog! How cool is this?
The possibilities are endless.

Wow, I want to thank everyone for the replies. A lot of this is new to me so it'll take some time to go through but looks like some great info in here!
