Need help w Ableton Records Audio Only no midi

Got the sub 37 and I use ableton and its external instrument, I use that to run through audio and record sounds ive made.
having a issue where it records audio only , I can get it to record midi but no sound comes out when trying midi..
anyone know the right way to record midi with sound ? do i need two sets of midi?
It works really good with external instrument to audio , but not sure if velocity is recorded because the velocity when recorded to audio shows the velocity all the same and I have to edit each note,

also does anyone know how to make a chord sound from this or any tutorials for leads? ive been cutting the sub all the way down and that helps.
love the sub 37 so far its a beast for sure ! just dont understand the right side at all lol
