Hi Folks

My Sub 37 is finally on the way and since I´m gonna go on the road + just back and forth the studio/rehearsal I´m wondering about bags or cases.
Ant good alternative to Moogs own collection? Any ideas is much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi ringokidf,
The soft bag for the Little Phatty and Sub 37 are the same bag.

So I've been using mine since 2008 and, I have to say, it's been exactly the right case for every gig just shy of serious touring and airplane flights.

The soft bag has internal velcro straps that hold everything in place and keeps the unit in the bag in case some idiot opens your bag while vertical.

Their hard case has an internal foam shape that protects the unusual angles of the Little Phatty and Sub 37.

If you can find a bag/case that fits like those do, great. But I'd seriously consider Moog's if you can't.

I have a soft bag for my Nord which is great...but when I had to stuff my car full of PA gear, I had to get a more solid case for it. If I'm just bringing the keyboard by itself, the soft one seems good, but not when stacked with other equipment.

I considered the soft case for the Sub 37, as that would be light and easy to carry, but I got the Moog molded case instead. Moog has two hard cases...the ATA case weighs over 30 pounds (so 52 total with the synth). I prefer not to carry anything that heavy, so I got the molded case (22 pounds, for a total of 44 pounds with the synth).

The molded case is solid on the outside, but is lined with very hard foam (styrofoam?) on the inside, not the soft foam I am used to. It seems to not offer much cushioning. But the few reviews I've seen of this case are all positive. I just received the case yesterday, and I might still change my mind and get the heavier one, as that one appears to have softer interior padding.

hi, where is there pics of the two different hard cases? ive only seen moog promote the "ATA Road case" or the "Sub 37 Gig Bag". what is the price of this other hard "moulded" case?

Moog describe the ATA case as this :
"The Sub 37 ATA Road Case is a custom built ATA case designed specifically for the Sub 37 analog synthesizer. "

is this true or just marketing spin? is it really just identical to the Little Phatty case? (this is what ive been told also by a store...)

I understand that you're looking for non-moog alternatives, but the soft case is fantastic, fits like a glove, really tough and really light. It's actually the best money you could spend if you're going for a soft case.

Here, from the Sub37 webpage.

That being said, as lushr says, the softcase is good value.

PS: After trying out the molded case with my Sub 37, I have decided to return it. It was not a great fit and did not inspire confidence (and it's bigger than it needs to be, hence the extra storage space for cables, etc.). It seems from the comments here that the gig bag, while perhaps requiring a little more care when loading, is probably going to suit me much better.

There's a knack to getting it into the soft case but once it's in, it's a snug and perfect fit.

it seems the moulded case is $299 and the Harcore ATX case is only $50 more...$349? that really seems like a bad pricing policy, surely that pushes every one to the ATX case. the Moulded case is obviously cheaper to make and lighter, should be $149 or something....just cant see the attraction of the moulded case at that price point....once you have convinced yourself that a hard case is what you need the surely the ATX would be the no-brainer option. i think someone at MOOG needs to look at that pricing. i bet they move hardly any moulded versions...

Hi guys I just returned from a transatlantic flight with my Sub 37 in its Moog ATA Moulded case in checked baggage. Both the case and the synth made it unscratched in perfect condition. So highly recommended!

Good to hear but, which one was it? The ATA case - http://www.moogmusic.com/products/acces ... -road-case
Or the Molded Case - http://www.moogmusic.com/products/acces ... -road-case

I'm starting to perform out more and want the best protection possible for my Sub 37, so I think I may be ordering the ATA case.

I've got the hard case which is built like a tank. It's incredible. Unfortunately when rehearsing at my buddy's place it's tough to get up the narraow staircase. It's bulky and VERY heavy. Like I said; Built like a tank!

I think I'm going to pick up the soft case for "safe" journeys like rehearsal and use the hard case for gigs around town.

One thing my bandmate noted; while the Moog logo looks totally awesome they might as well have painted "Steal me first" on the case. I think he might be right :(

If I was going to gig with mine I'd get the ATA case. Do it right once.

Yeah, I thought about that with the logo emblazoned on the side! But, slabwax is right, "do it right once" so I ordered the ATA case, logo and all! I'm performing each month at a place, not in the best neighborhood, that includes 8 other synth musicians performing the same night, so best protection to get in and out of the small club makes the most sense...

The lovecraft? Strange sort of vibe but I like it.

I have a odd fascination with cases and bags. Even thou I'm not gig right now I had a hard time resisting the ATA I love ATA cases (I think it's called a fetish). I'm happy with my bag.
