Sub 37 - Arpeggiator Rate Knob

I'm sure this is something obvious, but I can't figure it out.

For this Sub 37 sound: "Triplet 5ths", Bank 9, Preset 3 --- the arpeggiator is off, but the rate of the pulsating sound is adjusted by the "Arpeggiator Rate" knob.
I can't seem to figure out why that is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not behind the sub, but i believe the rate knob sets the internal tempo when the sub is not receiving external click messages or master sync is off.

From the manual ...
RATE
This knob sets the rate of the arpeggiator from 2 BPM (beats-per-minute) to 280 BPM. When the SYNC button is illuminated the RATE knob is used to select clock divisions of the Sub 37’s internal clock or an external MIDI clock. For more information on MIDI clock divisions, go to page 45.
The Filter EG Sync button is turned on for that patch. Turn it off and the Arp Rate knob stops adjusting the rate of the pulse. There are other Sync buttons (Amp EG, Mod 1, Mod 2) that might have the same result but I haven't tried them. The manual is not really clear about this. The Sub 37 seems to be full of interesting surprises.
