Hi!

Can you use the voyager as a simple midi/cv converter? If you trigger the voyager using midi, is gate and CV signal sent out of the VX expander?

Absolutely! The VX-351 will output key pitch and gate CV's in response to MIDI inputs (try it!).

I don't have it yet, but just got a mono/poly and I'm looking for a midi/CV for it. Now I'll get a super one. Also I can start experimenting with patching using the VX. (Way easier than going through the menus - finally will start using the touch panel more often)

Sounds great! One thing to keep in mind: Some Korg synths repond to exponential CV's (V/Hz) instead of linear CV's (V/oct). I think you'll be fine, however, since I'm pretty sure that the Korg Mono/Poly is a V/oct design. Check the specs to be sure.

I use a Future Retro 777 to do this. It works great.

It's V/oct. The MS20/10/50 are the ones using V/Hz. thanks anyway!

But they are not that good in tracking over more then 3 octaves.
The quality of the D/A and the analog parts does not appear to be that good for this low price tag.

What, me, burst your bubble? Not gonna happen!

While there are cheaper ways to get a MIDI-CV converter, if you already have the Voyager, the VX-351 is the best way to go, IMO. You not only get the MIDI/CV capability (not its main purpose, but cool that it can do this), you unlock a very powerful aspect of Voyager control.

anyone use this with sh-101? (playing midi from voyager)
