Sub 37 Step Sequencer Question

Good Morning,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I just received my Sub 37 a few days ago and I had some questions about the step sequencer. I could have sworn I have seen videos where I could key in a sequence and then play it back forwards/backwards/random etc. I see that the arpeggiator has these types of options, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do this with the step sequencer on notes that I key in. Did I misunderstand the video I saw and mistook those different arpeggiator modes for step sequencer modes? This is my first synth, so it is very possible I completely misunderstood everything I saw.
Also, I believe it was in the Nova Musik video that they mentioned the preset keys 1-16 can be used as a step sequencer in addition to the method I described above keying in the steps. But, I do not see this mentioned on page 17 of the manual (the Step Sequencer section). Is this a feature that was left out and possibly coming in a firmware update?
Thanks for your time.
Judy
