CV tempo sync for MF delays

Hi All,

I'm wondering if it's possible to use a clock pulse to tempo-sync the MF104M delay pedals. That would be super helpful (as opposed to MIDI sync) for working with a modular setup.

Thanks!

It's been discussed to the nines, and no you can't. You need to supply the time CV in with a constant voltage.

Maybe with the 104M there is a way to mod the tap switch into a tap CV input but I don't know...

Bummer! But thanks for the reply.

You can sync them to MIDI clock using CTL-Sync.

We also make a MIDI to CV pedal (CV-Sync) that could sync the rest of your modular devices.

Kind of a roundabout way to get you where you want to go, but it would work.

Brilliant design! Thanks for bringing it to our attention and welcome to the Forum.

This is not a solution to the OPs request & you are showing a major lack of knowledge for implentation of your product.

The delay - any stock Moog delay - WILL NOT respond to CV clock pulses to set the delay time. This product does not offer a constant voltage solution where pulses are interpreted as the calibrated CV / time.

Did Moog agree to your advertizing?

Edit: Or am I showing a lack of understanding of the OPs request?

OP might want to read this thread on MW:

I have a Roland SBX-10 that will read clicks and generate a MIDI clock. They are no longer made, but you might be able to find a used one.

Wow, it's a lot more complicated than I originally thought. Thanks for the mini-lesson!

Reminds me of why I freekin' hate MIDI.

I thought OP wanted to sync his MIDI-enabled MF delay to his modular setup, and CV-Sync would be a possible solution.

Syncing to MIDI Clock has a distinct advantage over CV. Because it updates 24 times per quarter note, gear can react to a change in tempo much more quickly.

Dear OP,

What modular standard are you using? You can get a Doepfer A-192-1 or A-192-2 (CV-MIDI converter), I think the latter might be easier to set up.

Run a quarter note clock into the 192 CVC, as long as it's below 12 V you should be fine. Then use the learn function to assign CC114 to it. Patch the MIDI out into the MIDI in on the MF-104. The clock operates the MIDI tap tempo function as any value of CC114 (or alternatively >63 of CC115).

Hope that works, you could also whip something up very simply with Arduino or a simple MIDIbox 8-bit core module.
