Crazy. I'm not surprised that it is possible - I believe some one looked at the board and said there is room for expansion.

I don't like that the max & min times at the short and long are not matched as a 1:2 ratio. The other enhancements are likely pretty subtle, but probably interesting. I still love the cluterflux & 104Z combo, just haven't found that sound anywhere... This may have it tho.

I guess those limited supply chips have become quite available :)

You mean this:

And just for fun, this guy:

And by the way, these ICs are hand soldered (at least in my pedal) and FWIW, so are the ICs in the 108M and there are empty positions there as well. They use the smaller package.

I should be getting one of these in the mail tomorrow
but noticed there isn't a way to register them as of yet
will that be up on the site soon?

I bought mine earlier this month (by special arrangement) from the factory showroom in Asheville while I was there getting work done on my Voyager. The extra delay time (50-600/100-1200 short/long) just makes the 104 that much more special. I'm looking very much forward to digging into the delay multipliers (up to 8x which should lend to some rather interesting artifacts).

I was waiting to post my gear'pron of this until after Moog had announced it, but seeing as how many web-stores are already trying to sell it I went ahead an public'ed the video

the voice over is crap, but that's not what GearPronography is about.

The "MF-104M SD" is now available in the drop down menu for product registration. (just registered mine moments ago)

Looks like they finally have the page up for the MF-104MSD as well

I may have to sell my MF-104M and buy this. I rarely use more than the longest delay settings though. Can anybody comment on the sound difference? Is longer delay time the only difference?

Does anyone know if a MF-104M can be upgraded to a MF-104MSD?
Those extra sockets on the circuit board make it seem reasonably possible.

I didn't have a MF-104M to compare between the M vs MSD's tone. The only actual difference is the increase in delay time. The LFO rate is still clocking in at 0.05-50hz, and all the hidden MIDI functions are still there. That said, the delay time multiplier is still there as well, bringing 2x, 4x, and 8x multipliers to the ≤1200ms delay (8x1200ms = 9200ms = 9.2 seconds of BBD torture!). That could lead to some very interesting tones and textures and artifacts and and and.

You may want to consider holding onto your M and sell something else to raise the cash for the MSD. Don't forget the FB INSERT function is still there, too. And running both inside of one or the other could be... interesting

Just curious if anyone has logged which chips and how many are in each of the 104 Foogers (104, 104Z, 104SD, 104M, 104MSD). Just curious, no real agenda other than comparison.

I am kind of perplexed since I currently own the 104SD which has a longer max delay (1400 vs 1200ms on the new MSD) and lower run (250 for the SD vs 560 units of the MSD), but of course the Midi and other improvements are tempting on this new one, I'd probably go for the MSD as a second delay if it had the money to spend, but I don't.

Though what I can add in case someone is interested. A friend had the original 104 and I've used it but not head to head. That in theory has the shortest time, but once one starts thinking about it, that doesn't mean definitively that the longer time units have to be better because besides the character of the chips being different, the minimum delay is shorter on the shorter units. I guess with the cluster flux you have a whole moogerfooger to explore even shorter delays with, but still perhaps the shorter range is likely just as useful if not more than the longer range... unless I guess if your tempos are somehow really close to the max, and that extra few ms of delay get you to the goal you would not have hit with less of a range. So I guess my own thinking says a 104M if I could somehow afford it would give the shorter range and new features.

In any event I did have a Z and an SD for a few days side by side. I thought I liked the Z a little more in terms of sound quality but couldn't put my finger on exactly why, the SD was certainly pretty close.

P.S. Where's the white?

I don't think they are making any more white moogerfoogers/ synths, just using up what they have. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was a limited time thing
