LP Stage II with a Yamaha WX5 Wind Controller

I hope this isn't a redundant question. I tried searching for a post like this and found reference to the MP201. Can the LP not be controlled directly through Midi? I hooked my WX5 up and it played notes, but then the LP would latch on one note and not release it till I power cycled. Do I have to convert Midi>CV to use them together?
Thanks!

The Little Phatty works fine sending & receiving MIDI via the DIN ports.

Might be worth disconnecting everything except the MIDI DIN input to eliminate the possibility of a MIDI loop somewhere.
Also, try routing the MIDI from your wind control through a MIDI monitor on your computer (MIDI-OX for the PC is perfect for this) and play the controller as you would when connected to the LP. Monitor the MIDI stream and check if your controller might be sending a NOTE ON or SUSTAIN command, without the NOTE OFF or SUSTAIN OFF commands.

You might also try turning LOCAL CONTROL off on the LP and see if that makes a difference.

Keep us posted - good luck!
(Sounds like a very cool way to ply the LP, BTW!)

I've played my LP with an Akai EWI4000s wind controller. I also own a WX5. For basic control you can set the WX5's dip switches to "keyboard control" which, IIRC, sends out MIDI volume (CC#7) either along with or instead of MIDI breath (CC#2).

Very few synthesizers support breath control natively, particularly those with a keyboard attached. I was rooting for MIDI CC remapping in the newest firmware update but, alas, that doesn't seem to have happened. I've used software to reroute breath control to filter cutoff and that's quite a bit of fun, but the LP will respond to just note on/off and volume. Watch your headphones/speakers, though, because I think it overrides the volume knob!

If you're not already on the dedicated wind controller Yahoo list (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/windcontroller/info) and forum (http://www.patchmanmusic.com/forum/) run by Patchman, who is a wind controller dealer and repairman and probably knows more than anyone on the planet about wind controllers, then I cannot recommend them highly enough. Join both.

The same thing happens when I try my ewi 4000s with a slim phatty.Sending only cc7 it works for a minute or so and then.....send no cc # and there's note on/off for a minute or so and then....stop playing go to master- all notes off, enter. What a giant PITA.
