The description sounds like it's a vocoder or something:
"Sound frequency filters for controlling audio parameters by raising or lowering the gain of specific audio frequencies using a resonant filter"

That's their MURF description, it's their generic trademark application info now.
Matador make me think this is a Taurus related project.

I'd put my hat on a CP-sized sequencer

or a Minitaur AU / VST / standalone controller.
Probably had enough work applied to it that they decided to name it.

If it's Taurus related I'll be very happy indeed.
Same for Vocoder for that matter...

I like the idea of the realtionship between Taurus and Matador, I have to say

However the Matador is litterally who kills the toro; let's hope this one will be the one who saves it.
This name first had me thinking about the Farfisa Matador combo organ. I linked it to the imminent paraphonic Sub 37 and what blossomed in my mind is an Opus 3 resurrection. But I must say I have no real clues about that, plus the Farfisa name reminder would be kind of clumsy.
Just thinking outloud.

I don't know why in the world they would do that if theres no envelopes and VCA modules.
Edit:
If there is a "Matador" Taurus controller, please don't make another T-shirt with testicles on it.

Sequencer or controller (desk top mp201) or a little bit of both in one. At least that is what the name suggests to me.

I am binge watching "House of cards", and on episode 3, Kevin Spacey's character says "there are two kinds of [synths], door mats and matadors. Which do you think this intends to be?"

What about to drive their range of fixed-architecture/semi-modular synthesizers?

Valid point, but where is the impetus for them to offer a product that doesn't generate sound when a sequencer can be developed in software, in hardware as seen in the sub37, or readily available in a virtual cp sized format from Doepfer (which I assert he got the idea from this forum)?
Sequencers really need VCA's and Envelope Generators and I have been dying for Moog to make those for years, so long that I was forced to go dotcom in order to achieve what I wanted. I guess that's why I'm incredulous.
But I think the Matador may very well be a dedicated minitaur librarian.

I get what you're saying, EricK. A modular-style sequencer is probably most at home surrounded by other related modules (VCA's/EG's etc.) in a modular system. I guess I'm just hopeful for a Moog hardware sequencer, as I've gone the semi-modular route (for now, anyway

), and the idea of sequencing one or two of my many internally-patched Moog synth keyboards or rack units, with a Moog designed/quality sequencer, appeals to me at least. I agree though that they might as well make VCA/EG module(s) and have a complete traditional modular system (with sequencer and all!).
Regardless of what the Matador will be, I'm still excited to find out..
David.
