Sub Phatty Editor + Cubase 5 64bit

The standalones work fine but I was unable to launch neither the VI nor the fx versions in Cubase 5 64bit (Win8). When I open prefs it says hardware disconnected (it is clearly not, as I close Cubase and launch the standalone it works fine) both via USB and MIDI. I tried the x86 versions and although I wasn't able to set the prefs (same error) I was able to set a few settings (pitch amount OSC2 only, hard sync) so there were some connection but it always crashed and reported some bridge issues. Anyone had the same or works with a similar setup? All help would be appreciated I waited this software so much and now I'm stuck using it :(

Cheers

I have the same problem running Cubase 5 64 bit and connected via USB. I've got the 32 bit editor & VI installed.

Using the external plugin I can successfully set it up so that I can play the synth, record midi data and get midi playback from cubase but with zero control on the editor - I have the hardware disconnected message.

Using the virtual instrument I first get the message "could not connect to sub phatty midiport handler please make sure that ......... is present on your computer." I am able to record midi notes but get no playback, I am also unable to save the editor preferences.

What's the latest Sub Phatty midiport handler at the moment?

I'm experiencing similar issues in my DAW (Renoise 2.8), so I don't think this is Cubase-specific.
Both the VST-effect and the VST-VI says "hardware disconnected", and sometimes I get SOME control or response between the editor and the hardware. And sometimes it crashes completely, and both software and hardware hangs and needs a reboot.
I have tried to track down excactly what happens, but the general behaviour differ from time to time, so it's hard. I have spent a lot of time testing now and I'm pretty fed up. Very buggy stuff, and I really hope Moog is looking into this.
However, the standalone version works well..

I've given up trying within cubase - its crashing constantly, never saving my preferences within the editor and always saying hardware disconnected. Standalone editor works great and usb connectivity for the sub phatty is working fine within Cubase - aka I can use the synth & midi control within cubase but without the software editor.

Hi everyone,

I have the moog sub phatty for a few days now and it sounds really great. The standalone Editor works great with me but I have big problems with the vst version which shows always "Hardware disconnected"
I use Avbleton Live 9 Suite and also tried witch Live 8, 64 bits and 32 bits version. None of these works, same message: "Hardware disconnected". I tried a few tips from Amos but I can't succed to connect with the device. Is there some one who succeeded the vst connection with Ableton ?
I use firmaware 2.0.1 - version: 1.0.3
I hope some one can help me or is there a really bug that Ableton can't resolve :?:

Thanks

Hi everyone, just another note to say I'm working on this (I posted in what I think is the other main thread about this problem)... I have added all of you to a list, and I'll contact you as soon as I have a possible solution to test.

Cheers,

Amos

Hi, did you find any solution? I have the same problem. Sub phatty editor doesent work properly with Cubase. I still have "hardware disconected" message.

One question for everyone here:
Is the SubPhatty MIDI input port de-activated in the DAW ? (Under windows, MIDI ports can't be shared, and if the DAW already has its hand on the port, then the plugin will not be able to access it)
Cubase and Live for example by default enable the SubPhatty MIDI port, and this needs to be manually de-activated in the preferences.

because the Sub Phatty has both DIN and USB MIDI input and outputs, you can use one for the editor and the other one for your DAW, and this will avoid a conflict.
eventually I hope that all MIDI and clocks can be routed through the plugin ("Echo MIDI from host" function in the editor prefs) but for now, clock/start/stop messages are not echoed. MIDI notes will work in this way; send MIDI notes from the DAW to the plugin, and they will be echoed to the synth using the MIDI device selected in the Sub Phatty Editor plugin preferences.
