Control LFO speed on Sub-Phatty using Animoog?

Hi there,
I'm a Moog newby and have been trying to find a low cost way to Control LFO rate (ie speed) on my Sub-Phatty using middi click. i heard that the Animoog midi expansion kit lets you control your Moog. Will it let me control things like LFO rate? I want to be able to tap to set the LFO rate. It is far too hard to set the speed using the LFO rate knob... It's just too sensitive and I can't get it to match the tempo of the band.
I realize there is the Moof Murf that allows me to do this, but the budget is tight. I also considered by a guitar delay or reverb pedal to try and get the same effect.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks:)
