Ok I'm insane. I was really intrigued by the features and reputation of this delay. I found a dealer who had 1 SD unit left and snapped it up sight unseen. Just received it yesterday, took it home, unpacked it, and gave it couple hours test drive. While it sounds gorgeous it's not specifically what I was looking for in sound. I'd love to keep it around for certain things but it's too $rich$ to not be my main line delay pedal. I'm going to stick with my modded Boss DD3. Yeah. Crazy. Passing up the Rolls Royce of Delays for my old Toyota. Anyway that's the reason and story why I'm selling it. It's been in my possesion less than 48hours. It's now packed back in it's original packaging just as new (even saved and put the wire ties back on the cables). I'm looking to sell it for list price+shipping&paypal fee. To help offset the paypal fee I'll throw in the Moog Exp footpedal free.

Maybe you should give the AS modular digital delay a go?
It's not a foot pedal but if you got the SD for its CV features and don't like the analog sound then this could be a what your looking for. I posted a picture of it somewhere on this forum a while back in the fooger section.

BTW what don't you like about the sound? I have an SD and a Boss, i think they complement each other well, the Moog sounds really organic while the Boss sound really mechanical. I use both qualities in my music and was always lacking an organic delay sound before i got the SD, there are some things that the boss just can't do.

Hey Godzilla,
is that AS modular digital delay a tabletop model in a wooden box (square)? I saw a digital delay online that had cv inputs, but now I can't find it. Maybe the guy's page expired?

Mr. King of All Monsters.
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into the AS modular. As for the Moog? There's nothing I dislike about it's sound. It's the ultimate analog BB delay IMO. The sound reminds me of the old 70's Ibanez AD-220 I once had. Yeah the Boss can never come close to the Moog's sound and vice versa. Actually In function I had the Boss set up a bit like what the Moog can do. I wired the Delay time pot to an external footswitch for those on the fly delay time adjustments and pitch effects. I also made an external mixer with a footpedal to feed the output back to the input. Of course the feedback control worked on the DD3 but it never would get as violent a feedback as doing it externally on a console. Inserting an eq or wah in the feedback path could get those progressively darkening repeats similar to the analog as well as some frightening tearing HF feedaback. I had no problem with the setup except for one thing. The whole contraption was permanently mounted to a 3'x3' pedalboard panel. That's a lot of real estate for one effect. When I saw the Moog I thought it was the perfect replacement. And it is except for 2 things. That wonderful dark regeneration is a bit too soft for the main thing I want to use it for. Dub guitar. Those dark delays make the guitar occupy too much sonic real estate for the arrangements I'm after. I even inserted an API 550 eq in the external loop of the Moog and boosted +12db at 12khz and above. While it would get some bite back in the sound it wasn't sharp enough for my taste. The other and not as important thing was it's shortest delay time isn't as short as I'd like. On certain things I like to up the feedback till it's oscillating then glide the delay time to it's shortest amount. With some gentle phasing it almost sounds like that THX sound in the theaters. That's pretty much it. I really like the Moog but it's a bit too pricey for it to not get as much use as I imagine. I think I might just condense my Boss contraption into one 1 rack space chassis and remote the pedals.

Godzilla,
That AS digital delay sounds like the ticket. I'm going to have to buy one of those now to see if it's the thing. I can see this is a sickness.

In the delay world you would be looking at the RS290. That's the digital delay/sampler. Looks like it would retail for about as much as the Moog. There's also the RS390 which is a bit simpler and more like the Moog in function.
