Sub Phatty Midi IN

Recently purchased a sub phatty and was curious if it was at all possible to create midi files on my COMPUTER/IPAD and send them to be played automatically by my sub phatty. I'm completely new to synth and would be amazed if this was possible.

I've seen lots of videos showing the opposite direction (synth to ipad) but was curious about the other way around.

thanks again and I tried posting this earlier but it did not seem to appear on the forum. Apologies if this is a double post .

The iPad is great for this. You'll need (1) a MIDI interface for your iPad and (2) an app that can output MIDI.

(1) There are lots of options for both. You can get a dedicated iPad MIDI interface, or you can get Apple's camera connection kit (CCK) and connect it with a class-compliant USB/MIDI interface. I've had good results with the Emu Xmidi and the Midiman 2x2.

(2) There are lots of apps that can sequence MIDI hardware (including the Sub Phatty). "Little Midi Machine" has the advantage of being free. I use Beatmaker 2, but also check out Cubasis (more $), MIDI Pattern Sequencer, and Genome MIDI Sequencer. You can find demos of them all on YouTube.

[3] While you're at it, look at StepPolyArp, which is a very powerful arpeggiator app.

Thank you for the quick response! very helpful.

Taking this a bit further, is there a way to press a key on my moog that trigger audio clips from my ipad.

I'd like the ability to play audio clips from old sci-fi movies as intro to our songs, etc and was curious if I could use my ipad/moog to accomplish this.

BTW.....i will also at some point be physically playing the moog too. haha.

Sample Lab will do this: http://samplelabapp.com. There are probably others.
