Updating to OS version 3.5 problem

Hi,
I just bought a second hand rackmount voyager and am having trouble updating to version 3.5 (it currently has v3.3 loaded).
When I load bank B as per the instructions I'm supposed to get the following message - “The Operating System must be re-loaded. Re-load bank D? Yes/No”.
However, when I load bank B the screen does not prompt me to do anything but instead returns me to whatever patch is currently loaded. I've tried many times with no success.
Also, the first time I reloaded the factory settings after this failed attempt at updating the screen went black - it is very dimly lit and I can see what is loaded if I look at it from an angle only.
I thought there might be a lcd brightness function but I can't find one.
I contacted tech support at Moog but haven't heard anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Andre.

Thanks Rudi. Andy from tech support got back to me and suggested the same fix as the one in the thread you directed me to. After installing V3.5 in this sequence the first 32 patches became a jumbled mix of letters/numbers/symbols and didn't make any proper sound.
Also there still seems to be only one bank (A). When I scroll through to A128 it rolls back into A1. I'm a bit stuck now - not sure how I can update if the workaround is not working. Any ideas? Thanks again, Andre

Hi Andre,
that's normal that you lost the first 32 presets. In the update manual you can read you must backup the presets before the OS update.
I'm not sure what your problem is... I guess the OS is 3.5 for the system and 3.5 for the boot system.
You can check this in the MASTER menu "Software Version".
If you are talking about presets ... you must reload the backup. If you don't have a backup you will find the
presets on the Moogmusic homepage.
If you can't change the banks by pressing and holding the CURSOR and the +/-1 button there's no memory expansion in your Voyager.

Hi again Rudi and thanks for your replies - I've almost got the problem sorted.

After the first 32 banks went strange I reset to the factory settings - I didn't realise that this would be normal and that I should load in the presets.

At the moment the Voyager says it's running OS 3.5 with 3.5 for the boot. I can move through banks A-G, the only difference being that my bank A and D are the same (they are both bank 4 on the list of presets).

Just wondering how I go about loading in the presets off the Moog site in to bank A. Do I go through the 'receive update' menu item or is this used for a complete OS upgrade?

Thanks Andre

Yeah, that's for the OS. You can send the preset banks directly to the Voyager.
If you need the complete preset files send me an email (rudi at moogmusic dot de)
