Triggering Voyager Gate With A TR-808: 5V vs 12V

Hi everyone:

I am relatively new to the world of CV and Gate control. I want to trigger my Moog Voyager RME (via the VX-352) with a Roland TR-808 gate output instead of MIDI. I am concerned, however, that the TR-808's stated gate output of +12V will damage the Voyager and/or the VX-352, both of which have a stated gate input of +5V. Same question goes for my Moog Minitaur.

Can anyone advise on whether this is a problem?

Thanks in advance for your help,
DBM

Welcome to the Moog forum.

Have you considered asking Moog Music about it ? A simple e-mail should get you an answer, as they are very helpful to their customers. Or, for a faster response, you can always give them a call ?

10 volts as gate is safe. The Etherwave Plus has 10 volts gate and I use it on the LP and Voyager.

I don't think there's a problem pushing to 12v but DOT NOT take my word for it. Easiest solution it seems to me would be to build a custom patch cable with two resistors (1k) as a voltage divider.
