Help with Moogerfooger CP/MF-101 S+H...

Greetings... first off, my sympathy to the Moog family, the world lost a great man...
This is my first post, so I hope a similar question hasn't been asked already.
I LOVE my moogerfoogers... the only thing about them I *don't* like is the lack of true bypass, which makes it impossible to get a clean sound if the drive knob is set anywhere beyond 10 o clock... right now I have no clean because the sample & hold is a big part of my sound, and I can't get the samples to trigger properly without the MF-101 drive knob set just shy of 3 o clock...
Here's how it's setup/wired : the MF-101 envelope out is being sent to the S+H input, and the S&H output 1 is being sent to the MF-101 cutoff in jack. Cutoff is set to about 1 o clock, amount is 0, and resonance is 8. When the drive is at 3 o clock and I have my pre-MF-101 distortion kicked in, I get a great sample & hold sound. But I want to bring my MF-101 drive down to around 10 o lock, and I can't seem to get ANY decent triggering at that level. It seems like the envelope just isn't powerful enough to trigger the sampling... any ideas? I tried sending the envelope out to the CP four-way, and when I manually turn the offset knob, I get my ideal sound even with the drive knob set to minimum...
Is there any way to automate the increase/decrease of the offset voltage?
Also, if I set the cutoff to 12 o clock, and the drive at 9 o clock, with the offset set completely counterclockwise I also get a decent sample + hold sound, but I have to hit the strings EVER so lightly or else there are gaps of silence.
Sorry if theis is disjointed or confusing, but I have to rush to get to work. I'll check periodically while I'm there for responses, or if anybody has any questions because I was unclear. Thanks for your help,
-Ryan
