I know the MF-104Z doesn't have a tap tempo port like the MuRF, but can the same effect be done using an expression pedal?

it's a shame the MuRF doesn't have a "rate output" then you could use tap tempo on anything.
Control the tempo of the MuRF (that is being sent to the rate output) by tapping a foot switch.
