Sorry, it's not Moog related, but I figured you guys would know best. How the hell did The Who get that sound on Baba O'Riley from Who's Next?

Well, there's lots of arguements about it, but I think this guy has it right:

I've been able to nail this sound with my Prophet '08. I use the same sound, but split the keyboard. In the left hand, I program the sequence, and in the right hand, I use the arpeggiator to get the fast repeated notes. Works and sounds great.
Sometimes I check out really old posts like this one... you never know, they could prove to have valuable information, or offer some insight to something still relevant...

I've made synth programs for Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, and Eminence Front
on almost every synth I've ever owned. But here's a video showing how to at least
roughly emulate these effects with a very cool delay pedal:

That is a lowrey tbo-1 organ I believe. I can't remember the model number. I think it's the banjo setting. It has an automated arpeggiator thing and that's what it is. If you have ever played that organ it sounds exactly like it immediately. You can find them now and then for really cheap. I passed one up for $100.

Pete townsend used a hammond M3 throught a EMS VCS3. Later on tour he used an M3 through an ARP 2600.

I think that you're confusing that for "Won't get fooled again." Here's a link

I've got a simple 'Won't get fooled again' patch on Knob tweak for the ext input. Play your Hammond through it!

This is correct. Not a synth. Those who don't believe haven't heard the Lowrey organ.

Or haven't owned a 2600 or a VCS3. You only have to play that organ for a second and it's immediately it.

It's an ARP 2500. Pete owned one with both the wing cabinets and also a 2600.
