Did anyone ever get the gift Moog said they were giving to all Voyager owners? And what was it?

Moog wrote in a mail:

"Also, all registered (http://www.moogmusic.com/register) Minimoog Voyager owners will receive a small gift as a token of our appreciation..."

You get the opportunity to win the golden Voyager, and a sticker (supposedly). The thing is; every product registration gets you a sticker, so anything Voyager-only would have to be the former.

Thanks. I hadn't realised that was it. A sticker might be nice, though, especially for people like me in Britain, where our Voyagers don't have any Moog markings on them at all apart from the `Voyager by Bob Moog' thing. I seem to remember Moog promising stickers several years ago. Still, it isn't really important.

I think because it was Bob Moog's name they were allowed to do it - it was the only thing they were allowed to do. Someone can own a brand with a name in it, but use of the person's legal name is always permissible.

I thought this was normal for British Voyagers. If it is, there are presumably photos around, but I can take one if there aren't. I'll also ask another British Voyager owner if his also has the Bob Moog marking.

BTW the manual is the standard British `porn' one, with the rude word blocked out.

I thought the trademark issue was sorted out years ago and newly made UK Voyagers could now say Moog and Minimoog all over them?

So this Alex Wynter dude, Wikipedia says he was actually producing instruments trademarked as 'Moog'? Are there actual 'Moog' instruments that are not works of US' Moog (Music Inc.)?!

As far as I know this has now been sorted and more recent Moog instruments have the Moog name on them in Britain. My Voyager dates from about 2005, before that.

The Moog trading name came up for open sale and Alex Wynter bought it, I believe. But that became a problem when Moog began trading again. Moog used the name Big Briar in Britain for several years.

Wynter hung onto the Moog name when Moog had started trading again. I don't know the legal issues in any detail, and there are arguably moral issues as well. It didn't hep that the British Moog company was making MiniMoogs, either. I've never played one, but I believe they're rather good, and Bob Moog is supposed to have been impressed with them as instruments - just not with their existence as non-Moog clones.

There's a tendency to portray Wynter as the bad guy. Maybe he was, or maybe he'd just invested too much in his Moog company to want to back down, which I think is understandable. I really don't know. A repairer/dealer in Britain had one of Wynter's Minis a year or two back, but I've never seen evidence of any others. I hope a few still exist and they haven't all been raided for parts or something.
