Global Pich Bend Amt. ?

Anyone else who misses a global pichbendrange?
I played Model-D´s in the seventies, and loved the day I heard Bob Moog was going to make the modern MiniMoog.
and I love it ! ...apart from one "little" thing. I have to go in and edit the pichbendrange in every preset, for at all to "play" it !! (Who want´s a 1 note pichrange ???)
Anybody who knows if it´s possible ? ( or why it isn´t there )
and ... how would Jan Hammer deal with this ??
dream or reality? Kjeks.

Not me. Glad to have it individually adjusted for each preset. Why? Depends on the patch and what/how you're playing. Consider:
1. Sometimes you want the PB to swing an octave for wild changes in pitch. Useful to get a 'dive bomb' effect at the end of a held note, or provide a sweeping octave change (transposition) in the melody.
2. It's handy to it set to fourths or fifths, so a few bars of transposition is painless. Just bend and hold the wheel at its maximum while keeping your fingers in the same spot (yeah, I know it's cheating, but it works!).
3. My PB style for guitar-like bends works best with the PB adjusted to minor thirds. It gives the wheel just enough range for the slight bit of movement needed to bend the note sharp or flat (personal preference).
That said, it might be nice to have a global PB option. Sounds like a potential addition for the next OS update. Doable RL?

So if the global setting of a pitch bend amount would override the stored setting of the patch it will be a point of critic for some people. And if it does not override it, it would not make sense at all. Why not set up all yur patches with the right amount? And set up a personal default patch on slot #128 with the pprefered setting for all new patches made from a "blank" sound?
Or change such settings via a special yet-to-be-programmed macro on the Moog editor by Sound-Tower?

I see Greg.
I take all your points. ( ?2. "cheating who?" ).
still, personaly I prefer 1 oct. for subtle temperaturechanges, guitarstyle and divebombing, so it would, for me, be nice to have a global PB option.
So Qwave,
if the global pich bend could be SET, .. AND the patch could override it, .. we all could be happy ... ???
til then, I will use your "blank#128" option, (since I´m new with the ST-editor and don´t realy understand; "such settings via a special yet-to-be-programmed macro on the Moog editor")

there is no macro like this yet. But having a personalized init patch is a great thing. There is at least one synth in my cellar having this nice feature. And it is not that complicated to add this to the Voyager or the Sound Tower editor.

Qwave/Kjeks -
Actually there is a macro that will do this, and it works for every single Voyager parameter. Qwave, your comment reminded me that the ST Editor has a feature called "Single Parameter Adjustment" located in the Preset Genetics window that will do exactly what Kjeks is looking to do - set a global Pitch Bend amount.
Here are the details, and keep in mind that I'm talking about the Macintosh version of the Editor (V1.07) - the PC version probably has a similar feature but may differ slightly in the implementation:
1. Open the Editor (assumes Voyager is connected and powered up).
2. Click RECEIVE to load the current Voyager bank into the Editor.
3. Select "Preset Genetics" in the Editor.
4. In the lower right of the PG window you'll see the "Single Parameter Adjustment" section. Pull the menu down and select parameter 073 - Pitch Bn Amt. (Note: Do not confuse this with parameter 016 - Preset Ptcb Amt).
5. Use the scroll bar to select the desired parameter value (i.e. +/- 1 Octave).
6. Click the OKAY button. The Editor will create a new bank ("The Kids") that has all PB values set to the new value. Everything else should be the same.
7. Now send the 'Kids' bank to the Voyager by selecting "Replace Voyager Bank with Kids Bank" under the PG FILE menu.
8. The Editor will present you with the transmit window. Click on START and the Kids bank will be transmitted to the Voyager.
Hope this helps.

the "Single Parameter Adjustment" worked just fine. I´m happy as a fiddle.

thanks again guys
Kjeks

I now that my english is also wrong on my "keep on turning these knobs, but I use it so many years now, that it ("these" should be "those") should stay that wrong.

he he ... I didn´t think of turning your knobs. I´m norwegian and my english is just about how I think, so it´s just how I would say it!
keep up with your:
"keep on turning these Moog knobs"
kjeks
the knobs need to be turned.

Happy to help! I believe Marc (SoundTower) added that feature in v1.07, so to anyone looking to explore that feature and not finding it, you might simply need to download the latest version.
Cheers to all..

With all this talk about global Pitch Bends (and a solution found), I'd like to hear some of your stuff, especially anything that illustrates your PB technique. Please considering posting something!

I have the PC version 1.1.8, registered. It seems there's no such option. Am I overlooking something? I would really love to have a global parameter adjustment option.
Thanks

Wish I could help you, but I'm not a PC guy. Looks like the majority of Vger owners in this thread are Macintosh people.
How about it PC folks? Is there a comparible feature in the PC version of the Editor?
