Is there a way, on the MF-104m, to internally increase the feedback amount so it will go out of control? My feedback gets close, but I want to push it a little further....

There's a trimpot you can adjust to make it do that earlier than that. It's supposed to self-oscillate at 8 and get out of control at 10. You can adjust a trimpot to make it do what you want earlier, but I'm not exactly sure which one it is.

Whatever you do, consider your warranty, and mark where it is set now so you can return it back to factory specs.

Frankly, without compression of some sort you are just asking to blow your speakers out.

Unless you are comfortable poking around, maybe call Moog support and ask them first.

Is you drive level set high enough because that will certainly affect the umm... effect : ) ? (on most MFs, a drive adjusted so that the LED hits red once in a while but stays mostly amber at average is best; having said this, there is an exception on the original firmware of the ClusterFlux where depending on the type of signal, the circuit prematurely saturated prior to red and even at the high end of amber; the subsequent firmware release adjusted this curve).

But in any case, on mine it definately oscillates out of control along the top 30% of the dial (I don't remember the exact position and it wouldn't matter anyway becuase it is all relative to signal).

I just got the MF-104M and imho it is a very different animal to the MF-104Z. I read a lot of users are thinking of selling their earlier pedal. I'm not. Delay times for a start are different. The Z feedback spins out of control for sharp high pitched feedback loop especially when using the ext / internal loop switch whereas the M uses the delay timings of the sort after original 104 and is much more controllable and as a result playable with the LFO built in.

I've not hooked the two together but I imagine things will just get wilder.

I love these analog delays and I'm definitely keeping hold of both. I also use the CF which uses the same chips again with different delay times. I live on a tight budget so this is definitely not bought on a gear whim. Each instrument is unique to the other. This is analog electricity, alive and organic everytime.
